Banquet Dinners

A beautiful rural event center has been carved out in ten acres of unspoiled, secluded, rolling Texas plains surrounded by a forest of native cedar trees. The Cedars Gardens Event Center is open for a variety of events.

Owners, Mary and Larry Threadgill, spent a year creating this striking new wedding and event venue. What could be more romantic than an outdoor wedding under a huge, Texas sky with sunshine by day and stars by night? The rural countryside is an idyllic backdrop for that special day.

Mary and Larry, wanted a place that was beautiful but also affordable for larger gatherings, making it doubly attractive.

Weddings, receptions, and all other events will be held under a Texas sky or a 5,000 square foot air-conditioned festive building elegantly decorated for any occasion. The venue can seat 250 guests at round tables with a dance floor space for live music.

In addition to weddings, this will be an ideal, quiet site for business meetings, retreats, and training. It can also accommodate anniversaries, reunions, Quencinerea, Bar and Bat Mitzvah parties in this serene setting.

Twinkling strings of lights throughout the grounds add a romantic aura, water fountains and a stunning pond add to the drama. A really cool 14 ft. bar, constructed with parts from a 1952 Pontiac, and an additional portable bar are conveniently placed for guests.

An area of interest is personal for Larry and Mary. A Butterfly Garden has been created to honor the memory of Larry’s beloved Aunt Zoe. Zoe was a Master Gardener with a love of butterflies. Some of her Master Gardener friends led by Linda Williams and Lynda Harvey designed and installed the special garden to honor their friend.

Flanking the path to the event center is a pollenating garden with native and adaptable plants like Eve’s Necklace that attract butterflies, bees and humming birds. Mrs. Harvey says the “plants are perennials that can recycle every year, they complete the cycle of life.”

Ms. Williams noted that Zoe would be proud of the garden, “although gardens are never finished we will add things to make sure it stays lovely.” She also added, “When you see the carved brass sign ‘Zoe’s Butterfly Garden’, smile or offer a toast!”

There is a fully furnished bridal suite where the lady of the day can have some laughs with her bridal party while checking her final touches adds to the feel of luxury. A suite for the groom gives the groom and his attendants’ space to enjoy a toast in their own man cave. Each suite has a private bathroom.

A walkway surrounded by tall Cedars provides a convenient place for guests to walk from the grounds’ plentiful parking area. It is also a romantic path for the special couple and their wedding party to make a grand entrance.

Guests can enjoy the exquisite vistas that are pure Texas, and seating areas around the pavilion give guests an opportunity to enjoy the tranquility. The Centers rustic charm serves well as a back drop for wedding photos.

The staff takes care of setting up and breaking down everything for the event. They want your occasion to be seamless.

Ample parking is onsite. Guests with accessibility issues are accommodated though out the venue; a six-passenger golf cart is available. In addition, to all of the onsite accommodations, assistance with planning all details of your event is available.

Mary Threadgill said, “I came from a large family (12 kids) and I have been planning and doing weddings and parties for a long time, and with The Cedars we can offer an unforgettable event.”
